Action at the Crown Hotel  has caused concern.

A link has been added to the Callander Rambling Club.  Several villagers are members of the club and enjoy strolls, rambles and hill walks - Henry especially.

What Is Happening at Flanders Moss? Have Your Say.

We are currently writing a new Nature Reserve Plan that describes the proposed the management for the next 6 years of Flanders Moss National Nature Reserve (NNR). We think that it is important for local people to know what is going on on the NNR and why. We also think that it is important for local people to understand and be involved in Flanders Moss. Therefore this is an ideal opportunity for us to tell you about what is proposed, to find out what you think and for you to get involved in aspects of Flanders Moss. In the Reserve Proposals document there are details of how we intend to manage for wildlife on the site. This includes the methods we plan to use, why we are managing in this way and the specific wildlife we are managing for. We think that it is important to manage Flanders Moss for people as well, providing it doesn’t affect the special wildlife of the Moss. In the Proposals are details of some of the suggestions of how we might connect Flanders Moss with local people.

The period of consultation lasts from 9th February to 27th March 2009. There are a number of ways that you can find out what is proposed for Flanders Moss over the next 6 years and have your say, you can:

- go to www.nnr-scotland.org.uk (Managing NNR’s section) to download a copy of the Proposals.

- contact the SNH Stirling office (tel. 01786 450362 or email This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it ) to get a leaflet summarising the proposals or to talk to the Reserve Manager.

- visit the boardwalk on Flanders Moss NNR and see the displays explaining the proposals or pick up a summary leaflet there.

- come to one of the drop-in days in the local villages where you can discuss Flanders Moss and the Proposals with members of the NNR staff. Dates for these are:

Port of Mentieth Village Hall - 3 to 8pm, Mon. 2nd March 2009,

Thornhill Community Hall - 9am to 8pm, Wed. 4th March 2009,

Kippen Village Hall – 3 to 8 pm, Thurs 5th March 2009,

David Pickett, Flanders Moss NNR Manager.
